Project Sunday: Hand-painted Wrapper

Make your own wrapping paper in three easy steps.

STEP 1: Prepare the materials.

* Paint – I used gouache but feel free to use watercolor.

* Ordinary bond paper

*Mixing plate

*Large paintbrush – Mine was a flat brush no. 9.

Create a set of horizontal lines in one color. Allot approximately an inch of space between them. Then fill in the spaces with a different color.

Let the paper dry flat on a table. It will look wrinkly at this point but after 10 minutes, the wrinkles will disappear. Drying time will depend on the amount of water that you use. I noticed, too, that gouache dries faster than watercolor.

And that’s it! Start wrapping…

and decorate as you wish :)
